Happy Birthday Red Wheelie Jackie!

Red Wheelie co-founder, Jackie Weeden from Herne Bay, Kent celebrated a significant birthday recently and the Quingo would again like to wish her many happy returns.

“As it was a big one (70) I had a party and it was really good. All the gang were here and friends old and new. My son’s gave me the most fantastic cake with cameos of my life, it looked far to good to cut but I did!”

The Red Wheelies are the UK’s only Mobility Scooter Formation Display Team and for many years performed across the country raising funds for the Kent MS Therapy Centre which badly need a new building. All of the ladies in the group live with MS and wanted to spread positive awareness of the condition.

In 2009 the wheelies hooked up with Quingo and a beautiful partnership was formed. Using first a fleet of Quingo Sports and later a fleet of the more advanced Quingo Vitess’s the girls and their trusty support team went on to conquer Hadrian’s Wall, break a Guinness World Record and appear on countless TV shows including the One Show, Britain’s Got Talent and the Michael Ball Show.

Last year, the ladies reluctantly but graciously retired from the Formation Display arena to focus on other things including setting up an exercise class especially for those with MS.

“The exercise group is still going strong and we all enjoy it.” Jackie explains

We certainly miss the Red Wheelies here although we are still in awe of their achievements and proud of our association.

Jackie sums up “We miss you too but it was getting a bit too much so had to make a decision which I can assure you quite often I regret!”

We again wish Jackie and her Red Wheelie colleagues all the best for the future and here’s to the many more celebrations to come.
